Zimmerman to Host Property Tax Discussion

August 18, 2026

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Dave Zimmerman (R-Lancaster/Berks) invites residents of the 99th Legislative District to a Property Tax Town Hall Meeting he’s hosting this Thursday, Aug. 20, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the IronSpire Complex, 2800 N. Reading Road, Adamstown.

“I’m a cosponsor of House Bill 1649, which would provide the needed legislative solution to modernize education funding as well as eliminate school property taxes,” Zimmerman said. “Leading the discussion will be two members of the General Assembly who have authored the appropriate legislation, as well as a former colleague who attempted to do the same during his tenure in the state House.”

State Rep, Wendy Fink from York County is the prime sponsor of House Bill 1649 and state Sen. Dawn Keefer, who represents portions of Cumberland and York counties and has the companion legislation (Senate Bill 962), will be joined by former state representative Frank Ryan, whose House Bill 13 during the 2019-20 legislative session would have replaced 100% of all school property taxes.

Anyone planning to attend the meeting should register in advance by calling 717-556-0031.

The 99th District consists of the following municipalities: in Berks County, the borough of Mohnton and the townships of Brecknock, Cumru and Spring; and in Lancaster County, the boroughs of Adamstown, Denver and Terre Hill; and the townships of Brecknock, Caernarvon, East Cocalico, East Earl, Salisbury and West Cocalico.
